Philosophy

Kristin's interest in Athletic Therapy began when she was in High School. As a competitive dancer, she visited the Athletic Therapy Clinic at Sheridan College to help her rehab from injury and it was then that she knew that she wanted to combine her love of sports with helping others return to doing what they loved to do. Kristin uses a holistic movement-based approach in her assessments to uncover the root cause of the problem. She uses a combination of Neurokinetic Therapy, Acupuncture, soft tissue mobilizations, myofascial release techniques and corrective exercises to correct the cause of the pain, optimize musculoskeletal function, regulate the neuromuscular system and improve overall performance. She has also completed the Neurofunctional Medical Acupuncture program at McMaster University and uses acupuncture to complement her treatments and help regulate the neuromuscular system.

Kristin applies her dual skill set and personal competitive experience to her work with Gymnastics Canada with National Tumbling and Trampoline teams. They've been lucky to have her travel to the World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, Baku, Azerbaijan, St. Petersburg, Russia, Tokyo, Japan, The World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as to the Jr. Pan Am Games in Cochabamba, Bolivia. ⁣

Personal experience/interests

Kristin's personal sport history includes dance, gymnastics, soccer, flag football and ultimate frisbee. She also skis regularly and keeps herself active through F45.

Favourite lift: Deadlifts. Not only do they load up the posterior chain to maximize the strength gains of the gluteus maximus, the body's largest and strongest muscle, they are also a full body exercise that will increase the body's overall strength, improve core stability, posture and athleticism. Deadlifts are a very functional movement (hip hinge pattern) that will transfer over to many everyday tasks! Incorporating deadlifts into your work out plan will help to reduce your risk of injury when carrying groceries, moving furniture, picking up your kids, or playing your favourite sport!
